Podcast #4 Enjoy Our Oeuvre

This Week’s Word of the Week
Larry’s Media Picks
- Lyle Lovett – Natural Forces – It’s nice to hear Lyle Lovett put out a complete new album, and one that makes such good use of his witty and well crafted song writing. I have to admit I’ve an irrational love of his music, but it’s been quite a while since I was so impressed with a new album of his. I was basically hooked when I hear the chorus of “Farmer Brown / Chicken Reel” it involves Lylye choking his chicken.
- RX Bandits – Mandala – This one is really hard to describe so I’m not going to. Play it loud and hold on for the ride.
Eric’s Media Picks
- The Above – If you like garage rock and the sounds of the British Invasion then The Above are for you!
- Angus Khan – Sounding like Angus Young and Genghis Khan in a back alley bar fight, Angus Khan is a five-piece piece biker metal supergroup out of Hollywood, CA that features members of punk rock ‘n’ roll favorites B-Movie Rats, the Streetwalkin’ Cheetahs, ADZ and Jesters of Destiny. Combining the raw power of AC/DC and the Stooges, this band is just pure unadulterated rock n’ roll.

Oeuvre (n.) -1) the small portion of the ovary that is removed during a biopsy. 2) the lab slide made from said material.
Best I could do off the top of my head (I know, too easy, right.)
I’ll be back to post more pertinent comments later. I only just listened to the podcast.

Oh Yeah,
Thanks for the kind words!

Good podcast, thanks guys.
Couple comments:
* Oeuvre is part of hors d’oeuvres, in addition to its’ independent usage, so we’ve all heard it there if nowhere else. 😉
* On the multi-shout thing, I know it’s happened to me a couple times recently where I went to make a shout and it didn’t work [leading to several re-tries which suddenly all posted], or made one and it posted twice. Not sure if that’s an issue with the site, or an ISP/browser thing, but it’s not all stalkerish behavior [though there is definitely some of that going on out there as well….]
* Props again to Hoseman on the User Heavyweight nod. It’s definitely well-deserved. I think he’s trying to single-handedly review every album on Figment – and doing a first-rate job at it.
* Been listening to this great light metal instrumental album lately; ‘Geneva’ by Russian Circles. Highly recommended, and streams in full from their website.

Great podcast as usual! Thanks again for the kind words and the honor of being an Industry Heavyweight. I’m glad I did the part justice.
On the subject of creating a top 10 Figment bands list…man, that might be a tough one. But I know Fait Accompli and Big Poppa would be on my list for sure. I’ll get back to you on the remaining 8.

Angus Khan was kind of cool, but I really liked the Above and RX Bandits.
Been listening to both of their stuff for the last hour while I was writing up the Shot Full of Love! page. Thanks for the recommendation! Never heard of any of them before.
-I have had the same issue as Javdoc a few times when I’ve tried to post something, get an error page, try to post it again etc, then look and there is multiple copies of my post.
(though I think this is not what we’re talking about here?)
I agree, some days I log on and my whole ‘Fan Interaction’ section is filled up with one user’s shouts and I can’t see what activity has happened on any of my bands/albums. I’d hate to un-fan every band from the handful of users that are doing this, but I might have to, as I believe this may be the only way to not have their posts listed in my Fan Interaction (am I correct on that?)
-Still working on an end of year list of Figment albums…tough one!

Unfortunately, I don’t think that un-fanning a band eliminates the the overabundance of Fan Interaction. I’ve un-fanned bands before and I still get updates about them. It even says I still own the album.
