Truly Epic!

November 26th, 2010

I talk a lot about marketing your bands on Figment, and over the years I’ve tried to give you some help and tips on how to get your bands in front of more people.  After all, marketing your band is key if you hope to build a fan base and truly establish your band among the top bands on Figment.

That’s why a recent video posted by frizbee hyping the upcoming release of his band Eccentric Arcade’s new album caught my eye.  Not only is this video adventure a novel way to hype an album, but it also plays right into the album’s concept and therefore is the perfect way to market this album.  This is the type of creativity I love to see, and is in essence a game within the bigger game of Figment.  So set aside some time and embark on this adventure, because it is truly epic!

This is well worth your time to check out. It is a perfect teaser for Eccentric Arcade’s upcoming album.
I have been fortunate to have had the opportunity to collaborate with frizbee and I can tell you…he is a crazy creative dude, bubbling over with ideas. Frizbee is very methodical in his approach and he puts boucoup effort in to all aspects of his bands and albums. He may not have a ton of releases, but it’s somewhat like the difference between a Budweiser and a Surley. Sure, Bud puts out a ton of product, but it’s always the same…watered down, boring, lacking complexity. Surley brews a couple hundred barrels, but has several varieties. They have character, flavor, uniqueness, etc. etc. (just like frizbee’s work!)
Carve out some time and follow this video adventure where ever it may lead you.

Thanks, Hoseman. I think you described my approach to Figment perfectly. I may not release material like it’s going out of style, but I put a lot of thought and effort into the material that I do release. I see a lot of users on Figment that constantly crank out material, and I’m always surprised by the fact that they don’t realize how badly that hurts them. I won’t name names, but I’ve seen certain people put out so many albums in such a short span of time that the albums get little to absolutely no notice. I don’t like to release something just for the sake of gaining more Lucre. I have had plans set in motion for a very long time that have yet to make their appearance here on Figment, so keep your eyes peeled. And I’m glad that everybody seems to like the choose-your-own-adventure video; I worked really hard on making that possible.

I’ve also been fortunate to collaborate with frizbee on this upcoming project. It is gonna be revolutionary. Yes, The Forgotten Falling has kept extremely mum on their collaboration until this moment, but they’re not the best at hiding spoilers.

I want to say a billion and one thanks to both theHoseman and Childofalma for all of their help with “Epic!”. They’ve both been great to work with, been incredibly excited about the project, and so willing to be heavily involved in such an undertaking project. Thanks again, you guys!
