ChildofAlma In Charge!

January 4th, 2013

A couple of weeks ago we mentioned that we’d be turning the reins of Victor Rossi & His Big Fat Posse over to one of the players who helped create the band, and last night we did just that!  From this point forward Victor and his Posse will be in the capable hands of ChildofAlma.  We’ve equipped the band with the basic music equipment they’ll need, so now it’s up to ChildofAlma to chart their course forward.  In a few months we’ll then switch it to the next player in line, and so on and so forth.  So, for now, there all yours ChildofAlma!

He’s Alive And So Is His Posse!

November 14th, 2012

For those of you who have been following along at home, several of our players embarked on a project to “Build A Band” here on Figment News.  That band, Victor Rossi & His Big Fat Posse, was such a hit that we decided to go one step further and “Build An Album” for the band, and thus “Become The Havoc” was created.

As promised, we have now unleashed Victor and his Posse on Figment, and following a brief run to stock up his coffers with Lucre to purchase band equipment we plan to turn him over to each of the four players who expressed interest in keeping this Figment alive and well.  ChildofAlma, FuriousGrace, TMTYTF, and algoreyou will all be guardians of Victor’s legacy and will continue to build the band into the chart topper we’re sure he’ll be for years to come.  We’ll switch ownership of the band every three months, so each player involved should have time to manage the band as they see fit.

Thanks to everyone who contributed to this project.  We hope to build another band soon!

Become The Havoc Liner Notes

October 10th, 2012

Well, we’ve reached the end of our “Let’s Build A Band” and “Let’s Build An Album” project!  FuriousGrace was tasked with the tough job of putting words to paper or should I say fingers to keys, in an effort to create the ultimate liner notes for Victor Rossi & His Big Fat Posse’s debut record “Become The Havoc.”  As usual, she knocked it out of the park!   Here are the liner notes for “Become The Havoc”:

Recorded in an abandoned train station that harbors the ghosts of unsettled conductors and what sounds like the souls of murdered children but are more likely feral animals, “Become the Havoc” is not an album you take home to your family. Pure evil doesn’t even cut it. The cacophony of sound that shudders through your ears and down your spine will leave your heart thrumming and your stomach lurching as this shock-and-awe assault on your senses churns out your soul and turns you into an empty shell.

The station was re-vamped to provide studio quality sound, while simultaneously providing the right atmosphere for inspiration of this jarring group of people. Tina’s tiny frame belies her furious drumming abilities, whilst Ryan’s quiet bass haunts you with its lilting tones. Victor’s horrific screams are matched only by Dmitri’s screeching guitar. Altogether the noise brings nightmarish tunes that are remembered long after the last chords are played. You don’t just listen to this music – it becomes a part of you in such a way as to leave you forever changed.

Become one of the posse. Become the Havoc.

Victor Rossi – Shure Microphones, Dean 7 String Guitars, Randall Guitar Amps.

Dmitri Carlton – BC Rich 7 String Guitars, Engl Guitar Amps, Shure Microphones.

Ryan Drako – Schecter 6 String Basses, Behringer Bass Amps.

Tina Neilson – Yamaha 7 Piece Double Bass Drumsets, Pro-Mark Japanese White Oak Drumsticks, Paiste Cymbals

So there you have it.  Victor Rossi, His Big Fat Posse, and their record “Become The Havoc.”  I don’t know about you, but I enjoyed the journey.  I’d like to thank all of you who participated for your hard work and creativity.  I think you created a great figment!  More specifically thanks to FuriousGrace for putting the final note on this great album.  We’ll be putting 500 pieces of Lucre into her account to say thanks!

Now the question is, should we really breathe life into this figment?  I’m proposing that I create the band on Figment and then every so often switch ownership of the band to one of the players who participated to do whatever they want with Victor and His Posse.  Each person can let customer service know when they’d like to pass it off or we can establish a reasonable amount of time to allot to everyone.  If you’d rather not take part, that’s fine.  So let me know what you think and whether or not you’d like to participate by leaving a comment below.

Wow, that’s top notch guys.  Thanks!  We’ll be depositing 500 pieces of Lucre in each of their accounts for all of their hard work on this assignment.  Next up, FuriousGrace has the unenviable hard task of writing the liner notes for this magnum opus.  We can hardly wait!!!!

Become The…Cover!

August 30th, 2012

When we began to assign tasks for this “Let’s Build An Album” assignment, we knew our players would pull out all the stops, but I gotta say so far we’ve had even our lofty expectations blown out of the water.  First Tyman came up with a killer album title, and now behold the incredible cover for the album that ChildofAlma designed!  Wow.  We were so blown away we’ve decided to throw a little extra lucre in ole ChildofAlma’s account, because he deserves it.

So the pressure is on for TMTYTF and algoreyou who are assigned the task of coming up with the songs for VR&BFPs debut.  Something tells me they won’t let us down!!

Your Title Here

August 15th, 2012

For those of you following along at home, a group of 5 Figment players have embarked on a collaborative challenge to create the debut album for the band Victor Rossi & His Big Fat Posse, themselves a collaborative creation of a group of Figment players.  The first step in creating the album was to give it a title, and we tasked that part of the challenge to none other than Tyman.  Well, he didn’t waste any time coming back with this killer idea!

Tyman:  I came up with a whole list of ideas for Victor Rossi’s debut album, but the others didn’t quite match the vision I had for it. Since the album was by a black metal band, I wanted the album name not only to interesting, but I wanted the name to have a touch of darkness and evil. But anyways, the album name shall be: “Become The Havoc.”

All of us at Figment love the title!  Great job Tyman!  We’ll be depositing 500 pieces of Lucre in his account immediately.

The next step in the creative process is tasked to ChildofAlma who we’ve asked to create an album cover for “Become The Havoc.”

A few brave souls have agreed to collaborate on creating Victor Rossi & His Big Fat Posse’s first album. So here are the assignments.

Album Name – Tyman

Album Cover Design – ChildofAlma

Song Titles – TMTYTF & algoreyou

Album Description (Liner Notes) – FuriousGrace

Okay, I hope everyone is happy w/ their assignments.  We’re going to run this the same way we built the band, so we’ll ask that each participant not start their task until the previous task has been completed. We’ll start with Tyman coming up with a name for the album. When he has completed that task we’ll post it here on the blog and the next player(s) participating will be on the clock.  Each player(s) has a week and a half to complete their task, so Tyman you have until Sunday, August 19th to get us the album’s name, but if you get it done sooner feel free to send it in. Please send everything related to your task (the actual assigment, any explanation, etc) to us at customerservice at If you need more time to finish your assignment you can also just let us know. As each of you complete your assignment you’ll receive 500 pieces of Lucre for participating.

Thanks!  We can’t wait to see the finished album!

Let’s Build An Album!

July 27th, 2012

For those of you who’ve been following along at home, a number of Figment players recently collaborated on a fake band called “Victor Rossi & His Big Fat Posse”.  So we’ve built the band, now what?  Is it over?  Do we just fold up shop and add the logo to some lame Pinterest page? No, of course not!

I think the next step is pretty obvious, we’ve got to create an album for that band!  And if we can build a band, we can certainly build an album!  So who’s with me?

Some of you have already agreed to participate, but we’d love to get some more of you involved, so if you are interested please leave a comment below!

As you know, we’ve been slowly but surely “building a band” together.  So let’s take stock of what we know about our band.

First of all, we know that our band is called Victor Rossi & His Big Fat Posse and that they play Shock-And-Awe Sensory Assault Blackened Deathgrind music.

We also know that the band is made up of Victor Rossi (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Dmitri Carlson (lead guitar, background vocals), Ryan Drako (bass), and Tina Nelson (drums) – all of whom love quality musical equipment!

Lastly, the band has a strong visual identity and a killer tagline!

So we’ve got a name, genre, band members and our marketing all lined up.  What’s missing?  Who the hell are they?  That’s right a back story!  Leave it to algoreyou to fill in the blanks…

And don’t come back!” Those were the last words Victor Rossi heard as he was thrown out the door onto the cold Oslo streets. “Great, that’s the third band this week.” Rossi lamented as he was ejected from another black metal band. He didn’t get why people were so opposed to the idea of heavy production. The son of a record producer, Rossi had grown up seeing what a could achieved behind the table, and loved it. Growing up in Norway however, he had been quickly immersed into the Black Metal scene, and found himself dreaming of being on stage, done up in corpse paint, shrieking for a living. He began to listen to Emperor, Celtic Frost, and study the guitar work or Ihsahn and the “singing” of Per “Dead” Ohlin, fashioning himself into a hell of a musician. However, he never lost his love of major production, and that ran him into trouble in the Norwegian underground. Everyone wanted to be “troo” and have nothing to do with the “commercializing plague ruining the real spirit of Metal”.   And now we find ourselves back where we stared, with Victor sitting on the street with his Dean guitar hanging on his shoulder. His luck was about to change however, for it was then he heard a message from an angel, “What the fuck are you moping about you little fitte?!” He look up and saw this blond girl, couldn’t be more than 5’5”, standing in front of him with a scowl that would have given Satan shivers. “Who the hell are you?” Victor asked, more confused than anything.

“Tina Nelson, your new drummer.”

“Do I look like I have a band?”

“Which is why we’re going to form one. Look, you sounded like the devil incarnate in there, and I think that enhancing that evil would be the way to go. That, and the pikk who just threw you out was my ex, and I would really like to stick it to him.”

Rossi, getting over the initial surprise of the encounter, started to take her offer seriously.

“Alright, let’s do this.”

And thus they formed a duo, calling themselves Whorehammer, with Victor on guitar and vocals, and Tina handling drums. They entered themselves into a battle of the bands up in Trondheim, driving in a van that may or may not have been stolen from a local church. Arriving early, Victor and Tina started conversing with the other band members. Well, Victor started conversing; Tina punched a guy for staring at her. It was then that Victor met Dmitri Carlton, guitarist of the deathgrind band Scornfire and fellow Ihsahn fanatic. They began discussing the intricacies of stealing some Jägermeister from the bar, when the competition started. Rushing to the stage, Victor and Tina, in their best looking corpse paint, started setting up their gear, when suddenly the announcer said, “And for some added fun, every band will be playing at the same time. May the loudest be blessed by Satan.” And thus, all hell broke loose. Every band was doing their best to overpower the others, but no one could get their amps to 12. Then a loud crash erupted from the left of the hall, and everyone stopped, just in time to see someone pull their head out of a bass drum and smash a cymbal against the drummers head. Then all Hell REALLY broke loose. Fists, drums, and beer were flying everywhere. Victor, pulled off the stage, was brandishing his guitar like a sword, fending off what can only be described as a demonstration of why the zombie apocalypse is going to kill everyone. He found himself back to back with Dmitri, who was doing to same thing. Dmitri threw his guitar and screamed, “Run for it!” Hurling themselves through the throngs of now bloody black metallers, Victor and Dmitri managed to escape, only to find Tina and someone with a broken ax bass sitting in the van. “Drive! She screamed, and the four of them got out of dodge. “So who’s this?” Victor and Tina asked simultaneously of the others companion. Victor introduced Dmitri, and Tina introduced Ryan Drako, the very imposing 6’5” solo bassist who had lifted her on his shoulder and brought her out of the brawl. “So…” Victor said, “Now that we’re all here…want to start a band?”

“What kind of band?” Dmitri asked.

“Something different, a mixture of black metal and deathgrind, but with amazing production to make it a wall of sound. Who’s in?” After a quick look around, everyone agreed and set about coming up with a name. Jokingly, Tina said, “How about Victor Rossi & his Big Fat Posse?” It stuck.

So there you have it, we just “built a band” – Victor Rossi & His Big Fat Posse exist!  Anyone up for creating their first album?  Let us know is you’re “in” by leaving a comment and we’ll assign tasks!

Who’s In The Band?

April 13th, 2012

Well, you can’t have Victor Rossi & His Big Fat Posse without…well, His Big Fat Posse.  So as part of our Let’s Build A Band project we assigned Tyman the enviable task of creating “The Posse”, what instruments they play, and even what equipment they use, and create he did…in record time we might add!  Take it away Tyman!

Victor Rossi (singer/rhythm guitar)

Dmitri Carlton (lead guitar/backup vocalist)

Ryan Drako (bassist)

Tina Neilson (drummer)

Victor Rossi – Shure Microphones, Dean 7 String Guitars, Randall Guitar Amps.

Dmitri Carlton – BC Rich 7 String Guitars, Engl Guitar Amps, Shure Microphones.

Ryan Drako – Schecter 6 String Basses, Behringer Bass Amps.

Tina Neilson – Yamaha 7 Piece Double Bass Drumsets, Pro-Mark Japanese White Oak Drumsticks, Paiste Cymbals (some cymbals are shaped like saw blades).

What do you think of the band?  I know I dig any band with a female drummer.

So now we’re down to the final assignment!  algoreyou is charged with the responsibility of writing VRBFP’s bio/back story, and we’re hoping he comes up with a doozy!  Get to work algoreyou, you have until the end of the month to tell us all about our band!
