2010 Figment Album Cover Design Contest Finalists
June 7th, 2010
We’d like to thank everyone who submitted an entry in our 2010 Figment Album Cover Design Contest. We had a bunch of great entries, and the overall quality level was terrific. So thanks for entering!
Unfortunately, only 10 entries can be submitted to our guest judge William Schaff, so there was a lot of debate among the members of the Figment editorial board over who would make the cut. The ten finalists below represent those covers we felt stood out from the pack and deserved a chance at winning the contest. We’ll let Will decide who the winner and 2 runners up will be, but these 10 deserve a big round of applause regardless.
Here are the Top 10 in no particular order:
Fitchburg Subdivision
Eccentric Arcade
Zandergriff Miggs & The Parliament of Owls
Shane Osiris
Dollhouse in Black
KARKASS
Zeroth
The Forgotten Falling
Zandergriff Miggs & The Parliament of Owls
The Jupiter Archives
So those are the 10 finalists. We will post the winner and 2 runners up on Friday, so stay tuned!

Some really nice work up there – any of these look like something you might find on your local record store shelf. Tough competition, appreciate making it into the final 10. Will certainly has his work cut out for him.

Yes, finally something that I created is a finalist in a contest. Funny thing is that the concept for “Stealing the Sun” by Shane Osiris came to me last minute, literally minutes before I released the album. I had been through a few titles for the album including self-titling it after Shane Osiris, and “Don’t Mention It”, which is track 4. After I discovered the awesome image, I added it and threw in a song called “Stealing The Sun”. I’m stoked. Hope I win, but if not, I’m really pulling for The Forgotten Falling, Dollhouse In Black, or Fitchburg Subdivision.

Funny. The ones of mine that made the final cut aren’t the ones I expected. Oh well. May the best man win.

This is gonna be a close one, y’all. I think my biggest competition is between Jupiter Archives, “Neverland”, and Zandergriff Miggs, “Down the Owsley Hole”. They’re both really fantastic covers, and I especially think “Down the Owsley Hole” has an advantage because of the overall style of the cover. It very much fits William Schaff’s style. Good luck to all!

I think we all could be hired to make the music industry look better.
Congrats to all the finalist and best of luck in judging!

All I can say is…Wow! this is a crazy collection of album covers. Looks like most of these could be sitting in a record store near you right now. It never ceases to amaze me how much unrealized talent is out there in the world and these album cover figments are merely a small slice of it. But what a slice indeed. Congratulations to all you crazy artists! I’m damn glad I ain’t William Schaff! He’s got his work cut out for him.
