A Temporary Shutdown

January 22nd, 2014

As we mentioned in our previous post, we’re planning on moving Figment to a read-only site.  We had hoped to have this done before the New Year, but unfortunately that didn’t work out, as we’re sure you’ve already noticed!  We’d like to thank you for keeping Figment alive in the meantime, and for your patience with this transition.

The plan now is to take the site down for a period of time while we work on getting the read-only version ready for prime time.  We plan to do it on Friday, January 31, 2014, so if there are any images (album covers, band logos, etc.) that you want to copy or albums you want to release please do so before that date.  We are still planning to put a read-only version of the site up with all of your “figments” intact as soon as we can, so don’t worry nothing will be lost.

As for Figment Mach II (as we are referring to it here at Figment HQ – because we’re all big Spinal Tap fans), we’re still working on it, and we hope to having something to announce in the comings months.  Trying to follow up Figment has not been an easy task, but we continue to work on it and will keep you posted as to its progress.

In the meantime we’ve spun off our popular Figment News “Music Lit 101” feature into its own site – Music Lit 101.com  We hope you’ll take a moment to check it out and support our newest venture by sharing it with your friends.

Thanks again for your patience as we make this transition.

Server Issues

February 18th, 2009

Our hosting company is having issues with the server that Figment is currently on.  They are working as fast as possible to get the site back up, so we’ll keep you posted on their progress.  We apologize for this service disruption and will work to get it fixed ASAP.

Hey, we just wanted to give you an update on what’s going on with our work to fix the Figment database and restore the missing data from last week’s server move.  As we explained on Saturday, our hosting company made an unannounced move to a new data center and the web server hosting our database died on route.  They have supplied us with the missing data and we are working to merge it back into our existing database.  We hope to have it done by the end of the week, but we’ll keep you posted on our progress.  We apologize to all of you who created bands or albums that were effected by this issue and hope you’ll be patient with us while we get it fixed.  This issue was an isolated one and we want to assure you that the site is working fine so don’t hesitate to create a band or album!

If you have any questions related to this issue, please post a comment or email us at customerservice@figment.cc.

You may have noticed that Figment is a bit different this morning, that’s because unbeknownst to us our hosting company decided to move data centers yesterday evening and in the move the web server holding our database went down.  They have placed a backup version of the site from last Thursday up for the time being, but needless to say we are working to rectify the problem and recover the data created since Thursday as quickly as possible.  We apologize for these issues and hope to rectify them asap.  We’ll let you know when the issue is fixed.

Thank you for your patience.
